In April, we were back in Tulsa, Oklahoma ready for a repeat house sit for a dog and five cats. We did have some excitement the night before our house sit. We were staying at a Homewood Suites, where a fire broke out in one of the rooms. Apparently, someone had started cooking something on the stovetop and had fallen asleep. The smoke alerted people of the fire. However, the fire alarms failed to go off, so the manager had to run through the halls yelling to evacuate us. The fire department quickly doused the fire and cleared most of the smoke out. Once we returned to our room, the alarms actually did go off…but we ignored them since the firetrucks were all still outside. We found out later that it was a tornado warning we heard. A tornado touched down a couple of blocks from our hotel and the fire fighters were inside the hotel to be safe from the tornado!

The next day was clear and beautiful and we arrived at our house sit. Our host greeted us and gave us some last minute instructions before heading out for a Scotland vacay. Our last time here was in November–just before the Holidays. The three new kittens were still babies then, and it was cool and comfy in Tulsa. In April, the weather is warmer and the flowers are blooming.

The kittens had also bloomed since we saw them in November. They grew into cats! They are still frisky, cuddly little things…just quite a bit bigger.

The two older cats and the dog are still doing well and seem to have learned to tolerate the kittens much more easily since our last visit. We even caught Pope and Meepers lying with their feet touching at one point. And Spartacus would love to be friends with Murphy, who is willing to let him get closer these days. The kitchen sink is now the popular drinking spot for Lucy, who is sharing with Fitz, Pope, and Spartacus.

Speaking of critters and flowers, we witnessed a fine crop of bunnies enjoying the petunias by the pool while we had coffee on the patio. It seemed that, of all the flowers in the patio and pool area, the petunias were the tastiest. We thought that Murphy might take exception to the rabbits hanging around. But, as long as they stayed away from her food and water, she seemed willing to share the family flowers.

During this stay, we did take the opportunity to do some sightseeing and hiking. We went back to hike around the Gathering Place, which is a huge and wonderful park. We also visited the Wave Park, which they were still working on in our previous visits. It’s a portion of the River that they’ve made into an area for kayaking. We visited the Golden Driller statue that is displayed in the credits of the Tulsa King TV show. And, we walked the streets of Broken Arrow one morning just to see the sights.

In addition to being a totally great house sit, Tulsa has a lot to offer!
