2026-02-24 Camp at Inks Lake State Park, Burnet County, TX

Since our next house sit was in Austin, TX, we chose a campground close enough to be an easy drive to Austin. We had hiked at Inks Lake State Park a couple of years ago. This was our first time camping there.

It was nice to be back in the Texas hill country, which has such a nice mix of desert cacti and deciduous trees. Inks Lake is on the Colorado River and offers some great hiking trails with opportunities to see wildlife.

The campground was sort of a typical State Park campground and was relatively busy because it’s so closes to Austin. But, we were able to secure a spot for he night. And, we managed to get some light hiking in the next day before leaving for Austin.
