On Saturday, 12/20, we celebrated the Buttke Family Christmas at Joe’s and Dana’s house. Breakfast with the family, games, gifts, and plenty of catch-up time. It’s always a joy to get together with sister Jacquie and her family. The nieces and nephew are all adults now, with their own kids. Great nieces and nephews are all growing up so fast, with a couple of them in college already. And, there was a new kitten in the family! What a great day!

Rorik’s Christmas Program at church was on Sunday, 12/21. It was a very nice service and always so much fun to watch kids singing and celebrating Christmas. Rorik was a king in the pageant. Of course, he’s always a king when he comes to Grumpa’s and Grammie’s house!

The season started out with Janet in the hospital with pneumonia after having gone through a hip replacement. But we managed to get some family time in. We shared good food and fun, and celebrated the Holidays together. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day there was lots to celebrate as Janet recovered very well, and we got her home where she could continue to recuperate.

And let’s not forget New Years Eve! We are such incredibly exciting people. We typically stay in on New Year’s Eve and struggle to stay awake until midnight. This year was the same. However, we did go for a nice long walk on New Year’s Eve day. We had just had some new snow, but the walks were cleared well enough for a safe walk. What I hadn’t planned on was falling over a snowbank and breaking my finger! So, our fantasy of actually NOT being at Mayo for a whole entire weekend was immediately shot.

At least I didn’t break a nail.
