2025-09-01 First Campout with the new Camper

After much research and many YouTube videos, we finally selected and purchased an Aliner Scout Lite camper! On September 1, 2025 we made our maiden voyage with our new camper.

The destination: Coon Fork Lake County Park, Campsite 4ER. For our first experience, we camped on a spot with electric hookups and a bathroom/shower nearby. The site was very nice with a fire pit and a bench (no picnic table), and it was surrounded by lovely evergreens with a few hardwoods scattered about.

It was the perfect temperature for camping–warm enough for a sweatshirt and cool enough to keep mosquitoes at bay. We spent the night in relative comfort. I would have to agree with several comments I read.

We had an overall positive experience! We felt safe and the camper had really nice ventilation, with the windows on front and back, and the fan on the ceiling. The Scout Lite has two bunks–one the size of a twin bed and the other just slightly smaller (cot-sized). Both are comfortable sizes for one person.

There were a couple of things we need to look at addressing to elevate future camping experiences. First, the mattresses are okay for a night or two. But, if you really want to sleep well, a better mattress would be advised.

Second, the light on the ceiling is very bright and useful. However, when it is turned off it continues to glow with a bright blue light all night long, which is not great for light sleepers.

Towing the Scout was a breeze. It is actually light enough to move into place by hand if necessary. It takes less than five minutes to “put up”. The sides are hard and there is no canvas.

We enjoyed the evening and are excited to go again when we can spend more time and work out few of the kinks.
